Step 3: Book Two Private Workshops

Teams will get to take two different workshops that will get them ready to perform at their school and other schools. Book each workshop online and you will receive a confirmation notice within 3-5 business days.

Fundamentals of Improv (6 hours)

This workshop focuses on the fundamental skills of improvisational theater. Learning about teamwork, communication, and commitment will help first-year improvisers through fourth-year improvisers understand the basis of ComedySportz. Students will learn how to say “YES”, how to start a compelling scene, how to develop relationships, pantomime ,and much more. This workshop is appropriate for students at all levels.

  1. Fundamentals Of Improvisation

    This is the first workshop your team will take during this school year. You will learn about teamwork, scenework and the fundamentals of improvisation.

    Whether this is your first year or your fourth year, improvisors always need to remember the fundamentals. This workshop will be a great introduction for first time improvisors as well as a good refresher course for the returning improvisors on your team.

  2. This is a 6-hour Workshop
    1. 1. This workshop can be done on a Friday during school, provided your Team Administrator can set up an "In-School" field trip. We can run the workshop based on your school's bell schedule.
    2. 2. If you cannot hold the workshop at your school, you may use ComedySportz's Theater on the weekend based on availability.
    3. 3. Please provide an alternate date for your workshop just in case your first choice date is not available.
    4. 4. Finally, you must have your ComedySportz High School League payment submitted, or in the process of being submitted, before scheduling your workshops.

  17. Workshop Cancellation Procedure
    1. 1. Workshops may be cancelled and re-scheduled without penalty if you notify the ComedySportz High School League Director two-weeks prior to your workshop date.
    2. 2. Workshops cancelled with less than a two-week notice may be re-scheduled and will be subject to a $25 rescheduling fee.
    3. 3. Workshops cancelled on the day of the workshop may be re-scheduled and will be subject to a $100 rescheduling fee.
    4. 4. Workshops not taken by the end of the year will be forfeited.

ComedySportz (6 hours)

This workshop focuses on teaching students who have attended the Fundamentals of Improv workshop about ComedySportz. A fast paced, competitive improv performance that includes the audience to make every show unique and memorable. This workshop will teach students about the cast of ComedySportz, the formats of the show, and everyone’s favorite improv games. Once completed, teams can start performing ComedySportz at their school, or at away schools (with permission from their Team Administrator). Teams are encouraged to participate in other school’s ComedySportz shows during the school year.

  1. Comedysportz

    ComedySportz been around for over 25 years and is always a hit. It's a family friendly comedy show that interacts with the audience to make it the most unique show you've ever seen. Once your team has finished this workshop, they will be ready to start performing ComedySportz shows at their school and other schools in the ComedySportz High School League.

    And the best part is...your team gets to keep all the money raised from doing as many ComedySportz shows at your school that you want.

    This will be the second workshop your team takes this year. In this workshop your team will learn all about ComedySportz.

    - The format of the show (two-team or four team)

    - The cast and their roles (The Referee, The Captains, and The Act-letes).

    - The ComedySportz games that will make any show a hit!
