Player Spotlight Friday: Drew “A Complete Blank” Simchik
Posted on 21. Jan, 2011 by Pong in Blog, CSz Culture
Drew Simchik grew up on the East Coast and moved to California in 2000, just in time for the end of the dotcom years. He started taking ComedySportz workshops when a theater friend from college told him there was a way to do comedy scenes onstage without having to memorize any lines.
In case it’s not obvious, Drew’s main comedy touchpoints are British. He grew up absorbing The Young Ones, Absolutely Fabulous, and of course Monty Python’s Flying Circus. In college he got into Mystery Science Theater 3000 and now can’t watch movies without wanting to heckle them.
When he was 14, Drew finished his first novel and mailed it to a publisher who will remain nameless. When a year went by with no response, he mailed them an anniversary card. The manuscript came back right away.
When not performing, Drew gets paid to make software easier to use. He also enjoys singing Amy Winehouse songs at a karaoke bar near you.
Player since: August 2002
Favorite Game: Replay
Favorite CSz Moment: Singing a song about office supplies in player workshop and finally being asked to play in his first show that very weekend.
Insider Statz: Prone to introducing randomness whenever possible, whether it’s picking teams by lottery, playing Game-o-Matic, or challenging teams to the dreaded Bucket of Doom.

Huh, I didn’t even know most of this stuff about Drew. Awesome!
Drew, lets see this novel.
Brandon, let’s just say the publisher made the right call.
Yes I wanna read it too! And then when I see you next I’ll ask you things. Mysterious thingz
