On May 20, 2011, Laura Lineback “To the Future” became a free agent. The heart-wrenching decision was made in order to accommodate her impending relocation to Los Angeles, Calif., which is following her graduation from San Francisco State University as an art major. The 29-year-old painter and Fremont native will be touring Europe on a two month excursion before settling in Southern California. She plans to update her ComedySportz San Jose family on her whereabouts often, whether she remembers agreeing to it or not.
Laura began her improv journey in high school, where she first learned about ComedySportz. After joining the CSz High School League, she was hooked. Her early improv career milestones include performing with The Unscriptables in Modesto, Calif.,and attending the World Comedy League Tournaments in Los Angeles (2005) and Philadelphia (2010).
In a statement to the press, Laura said, “Improv will, hands down, be the most important skill I take with me down to L.A -it’s the ability to think on your feet and go with the moment! Before CSz I was all ‘no but’, now I’m all ‘yes and’ and that’s all thanks to the great teacherz and playerz here in San Jose. ComedySportz has truly ‘improv’ed my life, (see what I did there?)”
Laura will be missed by the entire San Jose team, Philz Coffee, and all Michael’s crafts stores in the area.
